Current Site Analysis 1.2

By Sophia Ramos of Always A Pleasure

In continuation of site analysis article the next area to review is the design. This is the general look and feel of the site. It is about the way things are organized on the page, the amount of content on each page, the images, the type-styles and colors. Try analyzing the following points in design and whether they support your value proposition:

*How is it designed, does it look clean and simple?
Is it current and innovative? Is it more than a few years old? Does it make your company look like a leader in the field?

*Is it cluttered with images and copy that competes for attention?

*Is your copy so long it trails off the screen and requires scrolling? Is it warm and appealing?

*Are your graphics appealing or stale? Do they match your brand and or identity?

*Are the type-styles and colors attractive? Do they convey what you desire? How well do you think it appeals to the potential customers?

*Is it at least as attractive as your competitors? Is the design streamlined?

*Are you proud to have visitors or prospects view your site?
If your site were a person, how would you describe him or her?

As with the prior article, your goal is to answer these questions and rate them according to needing improvement, fine as is or not sure. If your happy with the way your site functions and its content, but just want a new look, it's a straightforward project. You'll need a new interface design, then the design would need to be applied to your pages. If you need additional changes, you're potentially building a new site.
